Shrink and Sniff Kit

A must-have for scentwork trainers looking to add another dimension to their training kit.

If you use oil-based odours such as gun oil or truffle oil, you'll know how easily contamination can occur, especially when we can't see it.

Introducing a variety of containers and materials helps reduce the risk of your dog developing a scent picture that includes the container as well as the target odour. For example, if gun oil is always presented in the same metal tin, the odours associated with that tin can become part of the dog's learned scent picture. If the target odour is then presented in a plastic pot, cardboard tube or another material, some dogs may struggle because the overall scent picture has changed.

Regularly swapping between different containers and materials encourages your dog to build a stronger, more flexible scent picture of the target odour, helping them recognise it regardless of what it's hidden in.
